Getting my groove back
Going back to work after being off for a year with a baby is not an easy task.
First off , are the early mornings. Being up at the crack of dawn, while it is still dark, was okay when I knew it was for a feeding, but Now it just seems unreal. It has only been a week mind you, but still. I think it is getting harder not easier especially since the days are getting shorter (Yes I live in Canada! ) where sunlight is in short supply in the cooler months
next is getting into a routine of not only getting myself up and dressed and out the door, but also to add to the mix feeding, dressing and changing a toddler on a time line. I thought that getting up earlier would help, but it seems that I move slower from lack of sleep and the same for my daughter, who I know does not like being woke at 5:45 in the morning.
She has gone back to having a morning nap which I hope will just be until she adjusts and gets a little older too.
YEAH for starting daycare next week. I'm still a little unsure about how it will all work out but I know that it will and in a few weeks we will all look back and wonder how it was ever any different (I HOPE!)

Back to Work! Yikes
Hi,
I have been off on maternity for the past year, well actually it has been 14 months because i had an extension, and now it will all be over in a matter of days.
I would love to hear from other Moms who have been through this, as I actually feel a little in denial that I will really be back in that routine again. It's almost like I feel I just have to do one day and that's it.
I have been trying to plan and get myself adjusted to a routine of getting up again (no more jammie mornings ;) and actually my daughter has been getting up before 7am for a while now so that helps a little. I just can't imagine how we will all get to where we need to go on time.
I am going to terribly miss the daytime cuddles and the freedom that comes with being home. I really actually feel guilty about going back to work, and secretly wish I did not have too.
I still am working on coming up with ways to earn income at home,
So please let me know your HELPFUL HINTS and Suggestions for how to make this transition easier

Words to Live By
I came this website and was instantly inspired! Stephanie's ideas are awesome and her tutorials are so easy to follow and recreate.
Her site is called Under the Table and Dreaming. If you haven't already checked it out be sure to!
I created this from one of her tutorials... It was intended for children but I think adults can also use a little inspiration and encouragement too.

Where I've Been
AHHHH, I'm back all renewed and refreshed...gotta love a little time away. I was at a place with no phone and no computer for One week. Now for some of you this would be Horrific, but with the lake and nature surroundings and family around I surprisingly did not miss the computer. I caught up on reading, played board games and went for walks in the evenings when I normally would be infront of the TV or computer.
Another fun thing was seeing my daughter's reaction when her little toes and feet touched sand for the first time. She was not too sure about the whole experience!
Now back to reality! Here are a few pictures from Lambton Shores, Ontario, CANADA

Oh the Joys of Moving
WOW, what a whirlwind week that has been, well it hasn't even been a week it just feels like it!! Actually it has only been since Tuesday this week that we were able to move in....Finally!
I am back to blog land, and I'm trying to get caught up again. So I will be posting more soon....just as soon as I can fight my way through the boxes, LOL!
I think one of the hardest parts of moving...well besides the pre and post cleaning, packing, and actually lifting the boxes is trying to reorganize to fit your stuff into a new space without having to go and and buy all new stuff....We joked about this before we moved and now it's not as funny as it is coming true.. The basement is filling up fast with abandoned things that now longer have a place...can you say YARD SALE!!
Oh and Rubbermaid Bins...These are great for things you just might need someday, except that day never seems to come, except maybe a few years later when you discover a buried Rubbermaid bin in your cold cellar, and discover that you really did have that Little black purse and pair of shoes that you thought you had lost, and think YEAH! I'm so happy to have found that, except that now you are left with multiples!! AGAIN, YARD SALE, or DONATE (Also great, and I find strangely therapeutic)

STUFF,STUFF, STUFF
Nothing like packing up your house to move to make you REALLY See how much STUFF you have.
After only three years in this house we seem to have accumulated what looks like many years worth of STUFF, and this is after having a garage sale. I can only imagine what it would look like after several years in one house.
We have packed up pretty much everything, and have lived with just the "Essentials" for the past week. After doing that, it was plainly clear that we have just TOO MUCH STUFF, as we haven't touched the boxes, or even missed what was in them.
I am in for a serious de-cluttering session in the new house, which I hope to keep free from clutter (gotta love basements!) and I hope that this move will keep me from accumulating too much STUFF again. BUT, Seriously! Who am I kidding,
I am not one to resist a "SALE", and find it difficult to "part" with things, because I "just might need it one day". I really wonder if I have a mild case of the "hoardies"
In reality, though, That day has never come,so I really should get rid of things......SOMEDAY!!!
Does anyone else have this attachment to "STUFF"??

Who's your Daddy!
Life with a one year old as most of you know is unpredictable, as they are learning, exploring and making sense of their world.
My little J is soon to be 13 months and is learning to expand her vocabulary with each passing day. Her favorites are Uh-Oh, Dag-ge (Doggy), WOW, and of Course DADDY ( She is truly a Daddy's girl) I get the odd Mum-ma ( but always in a whiny tone and only when she wants something)
As she is making sense of her world, and testing out her words,it is truly adorable to hear her *talk*.
Now for the funny part, it is her willingness to use the word DADDY.
She of Course recognizes her own Daddy but that does not stop her from calling out to most other men we pass in the stroller, or meet in the grocery store and call them Daddy!
It happpened again today, but this time it was to one of our neighbours. I really hope the neighbours don't talk because she also has a "Daddy" who lives up the street, and I might start to get a reputation for getting around *LOL*
It is always good for a chuckle as the men we meet are often WAY older, I'm talking 70-80 years+, and she does not discriminate against different ethnic backgrounds as well.
So if it were up to her it seems Daddy is preferably an older man from a different ethnic background *grin*
It is funny that she has never said this to any younger guys. When it actuality her Mommy did "rob the cradle" but only by a year!
So as this Father's Day Approaches and little J celebrates her own Daddy, I am reminded how Special Daddies are for many little girls, I know my Dad will always hold a special place in my heart too.

A Packing I will go!!!
Oh, the Joys of moving!! I think I had been a little bit in denial up until now about all of the things that still needed to get done in a very little time. Now that it is only a week and a half to go, I have to get moving (pardon the pun!)
Moving is always bitter sweet for me, I'm excited to get into a brand new home, but at the same time, I'm sad to leave our "starter" home where so many of our firsts happened.
Now, time to go and get packing!!

Welcome
Welcome and thanks for visiting Listen, Learn and Grow.
I like to think of this blog as my place to share ideas, photos, and my family life but also as a place for me and others to learn, and grow by listening and sharing ideas.
Hey, I am a Mom now, but wasn't always one so I had a life before kids and now I have a life with kids. It's still my life but now it's grown to include more love, more fun, and yes more laundry, as if that was possible!
I want to hear from you too, as I love to share ideas, reviews, recipes, etc.
